I’m going to stray a bit from the topic of this blog, to make an important announcement…
Tomorrow at 9:30 am MST, school will officially be out, and summer vacation will finally be a reality. Now, depending on your outlook, the level of enthusiasm that you read that sentence with, will vary. For me, it is read with an infinite number of exclamation points and emoticons representing smiley faces of all kinds. I am ecstatic!
Now, please don’t be down on yourself if your level of enthusiasm doesn’t go hand in hand with mine. Everyone is different. I am a summer mom. Summer represents something that every other part of the year doesn’t, an that is time. Time is one thing that I could never have enough of.
As a young child, I remember spending many summer days at work with my dad….granted, this was usually, if not always due to the fact that I was driving my mom nuts…nonetheless, these were some of my best memories because my dad was giving me something that made me feel loved…time. I also remember a summer day when I was 4 or 5, when my mom and I went out to pick carrots in the garden. Afterword, we ate ice cream. She spent time with me, and I felt loved. I have never been one for gifts or even hugs and kisses. Time is what I need.
This need for time has carried into my adult life, in that it is not only the way that I feel loved, but it is the way I show it as well. In less than 12 hours, Summer Mom will be alive and well! I can hardly contain myself!!!!!!! >:] :-) :) :o) :] :3 :c) :> =] 8) =) :} :^) :っ)
